This was a brilliant game, probably the most dogged comeback I have ever seen. My hat is off to both of you. I learned a lot by watching this one. I agree that hand mortars and naginata are a tad OP. Still, for all their power en masse, hand mortars don't stand a chance without big anti-cavalry support, as Josh showed several times in this match. Also, this game is a perfect example of why it is essential to control the sea: Even when an opponent looks dead on land, he might be reaping tons of resources offshore.
Nice job all around. I look forward to watching more of your matches.
Flamethrowers are actually better at destroying buildings than hand mortars are, the only advantage the mortars have is range. Overall a pretty good replay, but either of you guys could have won it earlier with more aggressive play, IMO.
Anyway I've learned 2 things from watching this game
1. naginatas are a bit too good
2. hand mortars are WAY too good
