Got a new comp this weekend so finally able to work on my micro a bit . Think I did ok here, micro and fight placement was ok here imo, just a few times I had pikes or uhlan at wrong places. Was nice that he chose not to take sea, though I guess it's risky because he'll need a dock or ships earlier than me. also shows it's imo possible now to stay colo vs japan if you play it well with pressure from the start, lost all games vs tombo before this one because I always went semi FF and had too few units to defend
omg i wonder what level tombo really is without japan, hes fighting / micro is so noobish
wp but dont go that hard on his base at beginning u might get trapped worse than u did now, and imo up much earlier, u cant beat good japan player in colonial (not in fort either but better chances)
hes a pretty good player imo, I've seen him other civs at high level too, maybe he had a bad day or so, dont think he played so bad anyway. I know I risky getting trapped but I always watch out for it, hardly ever get trapped anymore as I know what he's likely to have and where his army is.
Not as scary as the Jap Kiljardi had to fight, on the other hand he was behind a long time and managed to keep himself in it, so he can't have been too bad.
It was nice to see a colonial German win against Japan. I still have terrible trouble with Japan, be it semi-FF or colonial. This record is a good example of how to keep the pressure on for a win. Massed xbows and uhlans are a good remedy against Yumis and muskets, provided he doesn't switch to nagis on you... which happens all too often in my games, and I never have enough pikes
now tombo has started other civs than japan and hes already down to 2150 elo and going down hard time, i played him 2 times and totally over run since he sucked so bad
also shows it's imo possible now to stay colo vs japan if you play it well with pressure from the start, lost all games vs tombo before this one because I always went semi FF and had too few units to defend
