Hey! I've had this automatch vs a moderate guy, he went Chaos, so I said - darn! But I tried that 2x Raps BO, and deleted my power gen, so I could get enough req.
It worked - 2x Raps gave me enough flexibility to constantly decap or prevent two points of his. Plus, my Cults were free to cap the map. I was behind in tech, but had good req income, so I've planted gens and got to t3 then my opponent (who actually chose to tech).
My mistakes:
- Cults could've capped more and earlier - Should've made Aromry faster, as I stayed long in t1/t2 - Could've made a gen faster - It would be better if I went for a ThermoGen
His mistakes:
- He got out-microed while having better forces (2x Zerks + Sorc + CL vs mine 2x Raps + CSM + CL - held him long enough to get Sorc plus Zerks and Armory -> Raps with flamers, CSM with HB's/Plasma) - He didn't decap crit points, which cost him the game - Lost his builders (then again, it's hard to save Heretics from Raptors)
As for no-gen BO's - they can be surprising, but require a bit micro and heavy pressure. I try to do them just to show that Chaos t1 can be sufficient to win a game. Thanks to it, you can get more map control, as you have more t1 forces. When you go for an LP boom, you can have enough req to start planting gens, so you might have a late t2, but in t3 you'll be earlier than your opponent (if it is needed, in this game, I did go to t3, but the battle ended before PSM reached my enemy's base).
