Yay, my first win vs Dutch in TaD. It was actually a pretty good game, I keep some serious pressure on him for most of the game, and when he finally breaks free from my deathly hold, we have the big battle! Cavalry FTW! He wasn't a bad rank either, 1950+ and PR 34. Enjoy!
I do like the fish boom to bankroll your early fight. It's not something I would ever have considered... It's a good hard grind, although I see dutch are hardly in a hurry to get age 3 vs ottos.
Fear the janissaries I would assume, but I'm no Dutch or Otto player.
Interesting game, I'm just getting started with Dutch, however I can't understand why did the Dutch player keep stacking such absurd amounts of wood when he had built 4 banks already, he even shipped 600 wood when he didn't need it. From my limited experience he should have shipped the attack buff for soldiers instead, I've found it very useful vs Janissaries.
And I guess Voodoo definitely deserved to win when his last surviving Falconet was surrounded by Ruyters and they merrily shot at anything but the cannon which decimated the Skirmisher ranks, hehe

At a guess - and it is only a guess - he was planning a pair of TC's, and to try boom his way out of trouble (usual dutch trick ) - but Voodoo put the squeeze on him almost as soon as he tried. He did get one extra TC up eventually, but presumably he traded the rest away for resources to get extra troops when he realised the main battle was starting in earnest.
The final falconet made no difference, My spahi and Hussars were all inside his ranks so whether he focus fired on the falconet or not, he was done . And I've seen the rec from his PoV aswell, he stacked up on wood because it was the only resource he had at the time (no more mines, not enough room for mills and plantations, and hopefully in the spirit that he could expand once he hit Fortress (which he tried).
Another wub from me, Voodoo. I'm looking forward to watching the rematch now. That Spahi FF is a heck of a good strat against the Dutch. Of course, it always helps to have total water control and schooners
I liked the colonial skirmishes around his base (you gave him no peace), and this games once again that you truly know how to corner your enemy in unprofitable map spots. Nice job.
Yes interesting game for sure. Nice when the two armies also without seeing each other but thanks to their commander experience move as a mirror in front of each other up and down the map and then they encounter...and the battle starts.
I think that the dutch could have won, 8800 infact with dutch counters the harassing of Voodoo with to weak and only 3 hussars (shipped from mother land). I think that he should have gave a glance to the sea to avoid Ottoman supremacy. I believe that sometime in the games there are some moments in which If you now you could have attacked you wuould have won, but sometimes for are reaason or an other players DO NOT UNDERSTAND they could have gone in and hit really hard the enemy so they stay back covering but they do not understand that they are loosing the moment the right momento to attack A good wait to understand the moment is for sure constant Exploring and "spying" but also watcing indicators like Score, time, Civ, deck before starting the game...and keeping exploring.
Nice also the walling tactic perfectly done an easy to copy of the dutch under siege (player called "8800" uses this tactic). Pretty good when you have cannons (you could also completely wall them Creating "hand made gun pwder strong towers (made of 4 cannons inside... ( this is a good hint I give to people I believe...A good idea...)
I like creating a trench difficult to be walked without loosing all the people or getting stuck, tactic. I would call it guerrilla walling. Very good stuff.
Btw Voodoo boss makes really no errors in this game and he gets a bonus: he wins.
He wasn't a bad rank either, 1950+ and PR 34. Enjoy!
