i recently upgraded to a better pc but now i cannot play ra3.
at the splash screen i get a dx error. (install dx9.0 check minimum requirements + update video drivers etc blah blah)
i more than meet the min requirements, have dx10 and have updated drivers.
the only thing i can think of but haven't tried is updating ra3 (i'm not downloading everything on the off-chance it will magically fix it)
if you guys have no more ideas to share i'll be ebaying this piece of sh*t 4870 and buying a proper graphics card, because this thing gives me nothing but grief whenever i set some of my rare time-off aside to play a game or whatever.

Could you tell us something more about your PC? At least what Windows version are you running?
And also go to Start->Run and run dxdiag, and at the bottom there should be a button to save all information, save that file and attach it to your reply.
I don't see a problem in your dxdiag file. Could you please copy-paste me the actual error message and also, what does give you that message RA3 while you are running it or some other program while installing?
Please make sure you have DirectX 9.0 or higher installed. Also verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements, and that you do not have hardware acceleration disabled in the display control panel."
error shows up at the splash screen when loading the game, it's installed and patched.

Tbh I don't see anything wrong You have DirectX 10, which includes 9 in it, you have the latest drivers and your computer meets the minimum system requirements. You should probably contact EA support, but I'm not sure how will the be able to help you.

that's exactly why i posted here, i couldn't figure out the problem myself and EA support will just tell me to do everything i've already done.
