Dota2Replays Brawl Qualifier #2 Results

By Nuraun - 23rd January 2012 - 16:30 PM

The Dota2Replays "Upset". This might be a more fitting title for our tournament here at Dota2Replays, since we once again had some very unexpected results happening both in the pre-qualifier and in our actual qualifier.

First things was how team us It's Gosu as well as us Co9.GDT got knocked out of the pre-qualifier Saturday evening to make room for team us Horizon and singapore AEONSPORT to enter the tournament.

Sunday was not completely empty of shocking results either. A team going through the pre-qualifier bracket us WIDS went up against sweden eXperience, spearheaded by Loda, and took a surprising win. The game was recorded as a VoD, so make sure to check that out. They also ended up playing against france Western Wolves. The outcome was surprising to say the least, and left our commentators speechless.

On the other side of the bracket, us FIRE was back for more and they went and played outstandingly. Especially the game against germany PANZER should tell teams that letting FIRE get a free Chen pickup is probably something you don't want to have happen.

The finals were reached, with WIDS making it in there after getting a default win over Dignitas, due to a violation in our rules regarding streaming. Thomas 'Nuraun' Vejling released an explanation for the decision:

QUOTE
We contacted ComeWithMe 2 hours before the incident, asking him to shut down his stream, as he was also streaming at that current moment. He did, and we had a quick chat about the rule, but it was crystal clear that we did not allow streaming of your own games. At the same time, as portrayed in the video on his twitch account, he tells his viewers that he will be back when the next game will start. Then we're at 23.45 CET where I find his stream online and disqualify Team Dignitas from the tournament. This certainly wasn't the outcome we wanted, but we clearly stated the rules and we are perfectly sure that ComeWithMe knew that his stream was running even though he was not allowed to. With this, as well as last weekends incident, we hope that it will change the way players and tournaments interact and make the whole sport professional. Dignitas is welcome to play in our next qualifier should they want to sign up.

With WIDS going up against FIRE we had an all-american final, with most people probably expecting FIRE to take the win and continue to the Final Four Playoffs. You can watch the VoD of the finals here
With all the games finished, the bracket looked like this:
