Players all throughout the Red Alert 3 Universe have been rushing to forums recently looking to correct some of the many connection nuisances found in the game. One of the major problems is the "Lost Connection To Red Alert 3 Online" bug.
Searching through the manual and EA's own support forums bring up no help for the majority of users. EA's own suggestion is having the players open the correct ports up on their router. This for most has not brought any improvement in the connectivity issues. If you go directly to their router
help guide, it redirects you to a C&C Kane's Wrath router troubleshooting page.
Some players have found solace by going into the network settings and making sure their private IP is selected. For many players though, this does not fix the problem. A thread on gamereplays.org has popped up in recent days with
a proposed fix. The fix has been tested on the Netgear WGR614 v6 and the Linksys WRT54G2 and proven effective.
It is as simple as triggering the listed ports instead of only forwarding them. The ports needed to make the game much more playable are listed in the link and below:
- 6667 (IRC)
- 3783 (Voice Chat Port)
- 27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
- 28900 (Master Server List Request)
- 29900 (GP Connection Manager)
- 29901 (GP Search Manager)
- 13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
- 6515 (Dplay UDP)
- 6500 (Query Port)
A guide for triggering the ports on the routers in this article are listed below:
Hopefully, this will work for all routers as it seems the incoming connections to the router are causing the problems for people.
