Starting positions:
UnskilledPlayer/WNxSk8ter - North
KoN|Mithrandir/KoN|Verdo - South

Version: EA Patch 1.06

Overview:

This game proved to be somewhat action-packed and had a few momentum changes through the early game. Overall, though, teamwork was lacking a bit, but one team neglected it far more than the other. And so as early-game reached its end, thanks to this limited teamwork on player’s poor aggressive priority, the Northern team lost one of their forts. From there, it was a valiant fight from the northern side, but KoN soon swept over the remaining base and came out victorious.

UnskilledPlayer/WNxSk8ter (Men of the West/Men of the West)

I noticed here there wasn’t much teamwork going on at all. Neither of you decided to mix up your units having the same faction and all, nor were you guys attacking or defending together until Unskilled lost his base. Trying to play out a team game like two complete 1 vs 1s is only going to set one of you up to be overwhelmed easier. Another major problem I saw, and this is directed at you, Unskilled, resided in your aggression. You were taken a bit too much into participating in unit battles that you lost so many windows of opportunity to do any lasting damage. When you’re being spammed with Soldiers of Gondor like that, by the time you take out one battalion, there are two more to replace it. Additionally, you didn’t mix your units around too much. Most of the game, you had only Soldier of Gondor and Gondor Archers out. This made penetrating your base all too easy and didn’t let you last too long thereafter. But, even with these problems, despite the tide turning in your enemy’s favor later on, you two put up a decent fight and still remained aggressive. Keep that stuff up, and try to replicate those acts of teamwork in the late-game in the future.

Points of Improvement:
  • Teamwork (UnskilledPlayer/WNxSk8ter): Try to work together in whatever way possible so you can more easily cripple and repel your enemies.
  • Aggressive Priority (UnskilledPlayer): Put a bit more precedence on taking out your enemy’s economy and unit production rather than trying to take out their units.
  • Unit Mixing (UnskilledPlayer): Keep your units varied a bit more so your enemies will have a harder time repelling you.
KoN|Mithrandir/KoN|Verdo (Men of the West/Goblins)

Just like your teammates, there was a lack of teamwork here but it wasn’t as pronounced. It just would’ve been better to see some collaboration between the both of you before Verdo sent his Cave Trolls to Unskilled’s base. You both could’ve had an immense step up on your enemies a bit earlier, but no matter. After early-game, however, it was smooth sailing as you guys showed just how two heads are indeed better than one. Other than that, just remember to put your melee units into hold ground when moving them from point A to point B. You guys did it some of the time, but it slipped your minds a bit as the game went on. Despite these disappointments, you guys played decently in every other area. The harassment never yielded and you both gave your armies a much needed boost gradually. Nice job with that surprise attack, Verdo.

Points of Improvement:
  • Teamwork (KoN|Mithrandir/KoN|Verdo): Work together a bit more in the early-game to get a more pronounced edge on your enemies.
  • Stances (KoN|Mithrandir/KoN|Verdo): Remember when moving your melee units around the map to keep them in the hold ground stance to prepare yourself for the worst.
Overall Rating: 4/10
