He pulled a nice ladder rush with Forged Armor Uruks + Warchant. Almost lost the game right there but I managed to come back and push him back. A rather nice game filled high-level microing.
The game: Very good game. Each player starts out as they should, the standard build orders for each faction. Hero goes for early cavalry and Rave goes for Pikes. Great micro of Cavalry is shown by Hero, destroying what he needs to and then retreating without losing hardly any cavalry. Takes advantage of Pikes lack of speed. Rave has map control, but Hero's raids keeps him busy. Rave attempts to go over Hero's wall with a ladder, manages to take down his Citadel, Well and Stable before before being ran over by upgraded Cavalry. Rave's next offense plan is spoiled due to Eagles which totally take out his siege and ladders. Using Gondor soldiers and tower guards, plus Cavalry raids - HERO begins making his come back, slowly taking the map over. Not much Rave can do at this point, his economy is dying and with the combind strength of Eagles and Gandalf, not even Pikes are able to put a dent in Gondor's offensive dominance over the map. The end comes swift and fast. Great micro from HERO. It's amazing how fast these beasts can turn the tide of a battle:
[EPIC]HERO: Early cavalry Excellent Cavalry raids Early upgrades Hardly ever ran into his Pikes Aggressive Late game map control Excellent use of Eagles.
RaVe: Early aggression Early upgrades Map expansion Got key structures down with ladder offense. Early game map control -Too many cases of Urak-Hai alone with no protection, his upgraded Cavalry destroyed them. -No fire archers to combat his foot soldiers/cavalry. They help, I made the same mistake so just so you know in the future.
Overall:This was an excellent display of Gondor vs Isengard. I recommend this game to anyone who is struggling with Gondor vs Isengard games. I'm going to promote this to Silver for now and have it looked at for gold. Great game guys.
The game:First of all - I'd like to apologize for the long wait for the decision of this game's fate to be decided. Both players did great and a wait this long won't happen again.
That being said, let the rereview begin! Both players start off strong, using the standard build orders for this Gondor vs Isengard game. RaVe goes for early Pikes and aggression, while HERO goes for fast Cavalry for raiding. Upgraded with horse shields, HERO uses his cavalry to apply preasure on Rave's castle and surrounding settlements. Rave goes for an early ladder offense, sending 3 upgraded groups of Urak-Hai over HERO's walls. Unfortunately this rush only takes down HERO's Citadel, Well and Stable - which are quickly rebuilt and didn't phase HERO's offense all over the map. With Rave having easy targets like unprotected Urak-Hai running around the map, it's easy for Hero's cavalry to mow them down: It's not long before HERO has Eagles to help dominate the battlefields. With Gandalf and cavalry - mixed with barracks units, nothing much Rave can do at this point. The end comes quick and clean for Rave's castle. Good game.
[EPIC]HERO: Early Cavalry Cavalry raids Early upgrades Aggression Avoided Pikes. Map control Eagle micro -Had a few chances to take out Urak-Hai groups with no Pike protection.
|2T|`RaVe: Early aggression Map expasion Early upgrades Early map control Key structures down with ladder offense.
-Too many cases of Urak-Hai alone with no protection, his upgraded Cavalry destroyed them. -No fire archers to combat his foot soldiers/cavalry. They help, I made the same mistake so just so you know in the future.
Overall:Very good game. I'm afraid it's not GOLD though. If the Urak-Hai/Ladder rush would have happened sooner or would have suceeded I would have made this gold. Other than that, this game is well played - subtract the fact that Urak-Hai were alone while HERO had upgraded cavalry running around. Stays Silver, but good game guys. Well played.
