cooked my laptop gpu in the oven a few dozen times already... works every time, but only lasts for a few hours of runtime :-/

i read an article about it a few years back explaining exactly how and why this appears to work... forgot what it was called or where to find it though :-/

You could try the Seagate momentus XT(Something like that), although honestly if you live in the US, SSD prices are getting quite low. $215 or so for a Crucial M4 256gb SSD on newegg.

I have a Momentus XT - It's okay. It sometimes makes a bit of a squeeling sound but when not it's pretty good. The first time you load into a game, it's like a normal hard drive. On successive loads, it's about the same as a SSD. Newegg often runs sales on it - $75 for a 500Gb drive that boots and runs similarly to a SSD is a pretty good deal when on sale.
