Mordor vs Isengard Master Guide

Units & Heroes


This following units and heroes are used in the Mordor vs Isengard matchup. Other units like: Mumaks, Rams, Siege Towers, Rhuns, etc...should never be used.

Orc Laborer
Buildcost: 20

Health: 30
Damage: 5
Attack duration: 1,26 sec
Command Points: 1

Gathers the resources that keeps Mordor in the game. These guys are important, and without them your lumbers won't produce any money. They are very good for scouting, they are also good for killing other laborers at Isengard's mills (send 1 laborer to an Isengard mill--most players won't notice this.) They are also needed to repair buildings (mainly pits and mills).

Orc Warrior

Command Points: 20

One of Mordor's most important units in this matchup. They are weak, but with land and/or Eye they are very strong. They are needed to keep map control and harass Isengard's mills. Always have Orcs producing in your Orcpits.

Orc Archer => Combos

Command Points: 30

Only used in combos in this matchup. Combos can be used to finish Isengard before Rain with Drummers and Trolls. In late game you can use them to protect catapults.

Mountain Troll

Command Points: 10

Mordor's best unit. These versatile beasts are used in early, mid, and late game. They're used to protect your economy, and, in mass with leadership, are hero killers. Their main weakness is fire. In the late game Isengard will have Rain, so they are mainly used to protect catapults and combos, if they have leadership you can attack Isengard's army.

Drummer Troll

Command Points: 10

Very useful Mordor unit that supplies Leadership. Keep drummers behind the rest of your army to protect them from harm. It's also a good idea to have more then one in case one of them happens to die. They are used in every stage of the game. But keep in mind that rain cancels leadership. BUT: Drummers made after Rain will give leadership to every unit. So when Isengard casts Rain, make a drummer and you have leadership again.

Haradrim

Health: 60
Damage type 1: 60 (Lancer)
Damage type 2: 40 (Bow from towers or Mumakil)
Attack duration: 2,6 sec
Command Points: 10

This unit acts like an archer unit and a pike unit. Haradrim are good for creeping with Orcs, and taking out infantry in early game. However, it's rarely used. Only get one or two of them if you want to creep, and more if you go for the Haradstrat.

Catapult

Mordor's strongest and most feared siege unit. They are the main units to counter Rain. Mass catapults are very hard for Isengard to beat. Always get one Siege Workshop, get two if you have a good economy and sometimes I even make a third workshop when I have an overpowered economy on maps like Westfold, Dunharrow or Fangorn. But when sieging scatter them so Saruman doesn't kill to much of them with one fireball.

Gollum
This PROfessional hero costs 150, and takes like two seconds to build. He is great for scouting and fighting weak infantry. His best use is killing buildings in your enemy's base or killing laborers at a mill. Gollum is a game winner, on maps like Fangorn or Westfold he is devastating, he can just kill all labs at all mills in a short time.

Nazgul
Buildcost: 5000
Buildtime: 60
Health: 3000
Damage: 200

One of Mordor's hero units. These guys are pretty good but somewhat weak to fire. They are mainly used to keep map control or take out Isengards army, but I would never fly in a massive Isengard army. But they're very good to do hit run attacks in small/medium Isengard army. Never attack an Isengard army containing Lurtz/Saruman with a Nazgul.

Witch King
Buildcost: 8000

Health: 4000
Damage: 200

Mordor's best hero unit. This upgraded version of the Nazgul gives out leadership and is stronger. His leadership range is massive, so he can be kept far away from archers in most cases. Try hard not to lose him and buy him whenever you get a chance. Also used to keep map control and to kill units but DON'T lose him.
