The Siege Tank is making a somewhat inglorious return to Starcraft 2, with widespread discontent about its offensive capabilities. A pre-beta concern aside, the Siege Tank retains its main use on the battlefield – long-range destruction.
When deployed into Siege Mode the Siege Tank receives siege range (that’s 13), and a large damage increase, but cannot move. When deployed, the Siege Tank has a minimum range which prevents it from firing units that get into melee range. It requires a Factory with a Tech Lab to be built.
